In this video I walk you through how I wired up the Pecron 500W alternator charger all the way from my truck’s battery, down the frame, through the floorboard, out to the receiver hitch, and all the way to the back of my travel trailer and a real world test showing it charging while running a 350W fridge and a 150W dehumidifier on the road.
This setup is a game changer if you’re boondocking and want to arrive with a full battery without burning propane or relying on shore power. The Pecron install kit came with nice pre-conduit 7 gauge cable with its own fuse, so I used it as-is. From there I ran 10 AWG marine wire from the hitch all the way through the trailer following the existing propane lines, used the water heater grommet to come into the front bay, and terminated everything with Anderson Powerpole connectors and MC4 solar connectors at the hitch connection point.
Everything is fused, protected in convoluted tubing, and sealed with dielectric grease. Highly recommend this setup on any RV or travel trailer. Thumbs up, A+, I’ll have some version of this on every rig I own from here on out.
